Sorry for the lag in posts, been busy with school but the semester is almost over.
BTW, if you want to leave a comment on here I was able to change things so anyone can leave comments not just members.
As for Vern, it's been a rough few weeks. He finished his first round of chemo and went back to IU for poking, prodding, and testing. Results came back and he will have at least two more rounds of chemo. They did his infusion while he was there to help his bones and its made him feel like he has a really bad case of the flu. The chemo combo meds are making him pretty sick but he's working at his job as much as he can. He's been in quite a bit of bone pain but he's strong, I really admire him.
We wanted to say a very big thanks for all those who have made food and brought it over. This is a tremendous!!! help. After Vern works; cooking dinner is the last thing he feels like doing, he's so worn out he really just needs to rest. Mike cooks whenever he needs too, but he has homework etc and its so nice for them to have something they can just heat up. I really appreciate your generosity!
Well, back to the books.
Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving.
Now, WHERE IS THE SNOW???

HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY MIKEL!!!!!
Mike
(Verns son) is an awesome son and great sport. We were having his b/day party when Vern had to be taken to the ER yesterday and he never once complained :-)
Verns heart was racing, he was pale and shaky etc etc...After calling his docs at IU they asked for him to be taken the neartest ER so we did. Poor guy spent all day/evening there. Turned out the chemo drugs had dehydrated him and his BP and heart rate were not good. After some IV's he was a new person but very worn out. Hopefully some rest will help too. They want to see him soon at IU to determine if the meds are causing this or if he's aquired an infection or something. For now we rest and see as he continues the meds how his body responds.
TTY soon

Chemo started..
Well, Vern officially started chemo this week. He's feeling pretty tired and all the "fun" that goes with chemo but doing ok. His spirits are up so in my opinion who could ask for more at this point?
Talk to you soon.

Step one: completed...
The bone marrow biopsy went the way it was supposed too... painful! I just talked to Vern and he still sounded rather "intoxicated" from the meds they gave him for sedation. He said he was in pain but looking forward to getting home and lounging for the weekend. He will start chemo on Tuesday...

Its Vern....
Sorry folks, I have tried again, but George is Vern to me.. So from henceforth, it's Vern.. Sorry for the confusion but my "mommyheimers" brain can only handle so much and calling him George confuses me.. so ya'll have to be confused cause my scattered brain is barely functioning these days :-)
So, dearest Vern...
Here is a thought for the day.
Look at the picture to the right of this blog posting and think Florida. What do ya say we skip chemo, fly south, and run away! I mean the only thing chemo is gonna make you do is lose your hair! HA! you beat em to it!
